Employment advice sessions

As part of our Worksmart programme, we offer our residents free employment advice sessions at our Housing Office, 6 Stockwell Park Walk. We will arrange your first session with our Employment Advisor, where you can discuss what type of work you are interested in and the steps needed to get there.

This could involve writing a CV, completing job applications, going on a training course, volunteering or joining an apprenticeship programme. After the first session your advisor will arrange weekly sessions with you.

MyWorkSearch

This is a free online recruitment tool that is available to all our residents. It is designed to help you build an effective CV, and search and apply for jobs.

The tool brings together thousands of jobs from major jobsites and sorts them to help you access new jobs. There is an Activity Management Area with a calendar so you can see all the jobs you’ve applied for and who you’ve sent your CV.

You can merge MyWorkSearch with the Job Centre’s Universal Job Match so your advisor can see that you are actively seeking employment.

There are a variety of free online seminars that can support you ranging from help with searching for jobs to preparing for an interview.

Apprenticeship Scheme

This scheme has been hugely successful in the past. Many of our previous apprentices continue to work at SW9 Community Housing and Network Homes. They now work in full time roles such as Income Officer, Assistant Project Manager, Customer Services Officer and Aftercare Assistant.

On the scheme, apprentices will split their time between working at the SW9 Community Housing office and studying on a Level 3 Business Administration course one day a week at Lambeth College.
