Following the Grenfell tragedy, the death of Awaab Ishak, and new law changes under the Social Housing (Regulation) Act 2023, there is now a stronger focus on improving standards across the housing sector. One of the key changes is that housing staff across the country will need to gain relevant professional qualifications. This is all about making sure residents receive high-quality services and are always treated with respect.
From October this year, a new Competence and Conduct Standard will come into force across the sector. This means that all housing providers must be able to show that their staff have the right skills, knowledge, experience, and behaviours to deliver safe and effective services.
At SW9 Community Housing, we’re already committed to providing the best possible service to our residents. As part of these new requirements, we’ll soon be launching a programme to support our staff in gaining the qualifications they need for their roles.
We also already have a Code of Conduct and a Competency and Professionalism Policy in place. These apply to our employees, contractors, and partners, and set out our expectations around learning, development, professional values, and treating everyone with dignity and respect.
Before we start this next phase, we’d really like to hear from you. Your feedback is important to us, and it will help shape how we design our training programme later this year. We’ve attached both the Code of Conduct and the Competency and Professionalism Policy here and would welcome your thoughts—everything you share will be treated in strict confidence.
Please take a few minutes to complete our short survey on competency, professionalism, and high standards. The survey closes on Sunday 14 June.
As a thank you, ten £20 gift cards will be awarded to randomly selected respondents.
Thank you—we really appreciate your time and input.
